 EVT, LLC has its beginnings in 1985, designing, developing, and manufacturing Diesel-Electric very large riverboats.  (Notice the double planetary gearbox between the electric motor and the paddlewheel.)

 The advantages of Electric Drive were well proven in riverboats- reliability and 25% fuel savings.  By 2004, advances in Power electronics and in Permanent Magnet Technology encouraged development of DIRECT DRIVE motors and generators.

 Today, these advances in DIRECT DRIVE motors and generators are embraced by several companies in widely diverse applications because:

1)      They require no gearbox.

2)      Their fuel efficiency is much better than conventional drives.

3)      With only one main moving part, reliability is legendary.
